The Year 2 Summer Term curriculum takes the children on an exciting journey with the main focus on exploring the Seaside! In Geography, the children will find out about the English coastline and compare this to their work on the African landscape which they learnt about in the Spring term. They will transform their knowledge on the seaside into a work of art, creating collages of the seaside! No trip to the beach would be complete without seaside songs! These songs will be shared for the whole family to learn and sing along too.

In Science, children will continue to develop their knowledge on animals and explore the different habitats that they live in.

Topics covered in English will help children to consolidate all the writing skills they have been practising in year 2, writing arrange of fiction and non- fiction texts including: fables, arguments and diaries.

Learning in maths will focus on revising and deepening children’s understanding of number, geometry and measure.

In preparation for Year 3, PSHE will focus on ‘Transitions’ as children end their journey in Key stage 1 and embark on their new adventure into Key Stage 2.
