Digital Strategy

'The biggest part of our digital transformation is changing the way we think.'

Our Digital Strategy is fundamental to Wood End Park Academy's vision for our pupils in developing the range of digital skills for their future life. The One-to-One Chromebook strategy for students (currently years 4, 5 and 6)  brings digital technology into classrooms to enhance, extend and embed their learning. It supports with a key aim of pupils: learning more, knowing more and remembering more.

All teaching staff have undertaken professional development and training to develop their ability to utlise IT within our teaching and learning model.  The Google Education training has been undertaken and we now have many members who are certified Google Educators!

The students engage with a learning question for their curriculum subjects and due to the limitless possibilities and opportunities at their fingertips, the Chromebook has become a tool for deeper understanding and exploration into the subject enquiry.  This is supported by teachers scaffolding learning by sharing resources to classes within seconds through 'Google Classroom'.

The student body is at the forefront of the innovations with our Digital Computing Ambassadors working with key school staff to help lead the development of digital skills for life. Dedicated time each week helps to shape and share the weekly skills, so that students can master plenty of digital competencies across many of our subjects.

The digital strategy does not end once students leave the classroom. Our school has an extensive regime for students to follow each week on Google Classroom. This is in the form of completing weekly quizzes across many subjects to help retain knowledge they have learnt in class. Pupils have pre-learning activities at home so they are prepared for that lesson once in school. Students are set holiday projects too during holidays which they complete online. We believe these latter actions enable pupils to start their learning from a higher point and thus another key aim is achieved of pupils working at at least age-related expectations and beyond.
