Reading at WEPA

Our mission:

• To generate a passion for reading books in school and at home. 
  
• To enhance creativity, and for children to become more enthusiastic about reading through learning. 

Objectives:

• To improve children comprehension, listening skills and vocabulary.
• To be exposed to new places and ideas through reading varied texts.
• To enhance creativity, and for children to become more enthusiastic about reading through learning.
•  Improve the ability to articulate thoughts and knowledge to further develop Literacy skills. 
• Expose children to diverse cultures and backgrounds through reading. 

Who will help children to achieve?

• School Reading Mentors to provide support and build confidence in readers'.
• To have a postive attitude as Mentor and to build relationships with readers'. 
• Mentors to help select appropriate books making the sessions more interesting and enjoyable. 
• Encourage children to read aloud followed by discussions about the book and other shared interests.
• Reading Mentors read with children at lunchtimes, either in the library or outside in the quiet area.
