Miss Simmonds: Nursery Manager

Dear Parent/Carer                                  

I am writing to introduce myself as the Nursery Manager at Wood End Park Academy.

 My name is Miss Simmonds, responsible for the Nursery Provision. I am absolutely delighted to be going into my 6^thyear in this role. I have over 20 years’ experience in Early Years Education and have worked in a variety of settings. 

It is fulfilling to see the children that I have taught in the past move up the school as confident pupils.

My first students will be moving to year 5 this year!  I feel very proud knowing I was part of their foundation of learning.

As Nursery Manager, my role is to work closely with parents to provide the best outcomes for their children. 

We like to establish a strong parent partnership from the very start; this enables us to work together and have a consistent approach to the children’s learning.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stagecurriculum.  This curriculum promotes the children as unique individualswho learn and develop at different rates. At WEPA, our Nursery ensures we establish each child’s own starting point and we then, help the children to grow and develop through their interests and real-life experiences.

We develop the children’s communication with early reading skills. We use Letters and Sounds: Phase 1 (information on this will be on the website: ‘About Us’ then ‘Nursery/Reception’).

We teach maths in an interactive playful way, which helps the children to respond using these skills in further experiences e.g. pretend shopping!
