Family Support Worker

"I cherish working with parents and the local community and even attended Wood End Park Academy myself as a child!  I have lived in the Botwell area for over 50 years and have worked at WEPA for over 20 years now.  I have vast experience with many generations of pupils and parents."

At Wood End Park Academy, our Family Support Worker - Sue Wigglesworth - plays a vital role in helping children and families overcome barriers that may affect attendance, wellbeing, behaviour, and learning. Working closely with pupils, parents, carers, and external agencies, she provides practical advice, emotional support, and guidance to help families access the services they need.

Our Family Support Worker builds positive relationships with families, offering support with issues such as school attendance, routines at home, parenting strategies, financial hardship, housing concerns, and emotional wellbeing. She also works alongside school staff to ensure that children receive the right support at the right time, helping them to feel safe, happy, and ready to learn.

By acting as a link between home and school, our Family Support Worker helps strengthen communication and partnership with families. Her work is an important part of our commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, succeed, and reach their full potential.
