Curriculum Information

At Wood End Park Academy, we offer a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that is designed to provide every pupil with the knowledge, skills and cultural capital they need to succeed. Learning is carefully sequenced to ensure pupils develop strong foundational knowledge and fluency in essential skills before moving on to opportunities that deepen understanding, encourage critical thinking and promote independent application of learning.

Our curriculum is inclusive and reflects the rich diversity of our school community, ensuring that all pupils see themselves represented and develop an understanding of the wider world. 

Opportunities for oracy are woven throughout the curriculum, enabling pupils to articulate their ideas, engage in meaningful discussion and build the communication skills necessary for success in school and beyond.

Pupils are supported to access the curriculum no matter what their starting point or barriers. Meaningful scaffolding helps to promote understanding by reducing cognitive load, so pupils can focus on the learning that matters. Where necessary, learning is adapted so that pupils can focus on the highest levers for their academic development.
