Vision Statement

Geography Vision Statement 

“Know, locate, name, explore, find out, be sensitive…”
At our academy, we aim to develop pupils’ interest and knowledge of both their own surroundings (local area), the country they live in and the wider world.
We believe that learning about the U.K. and its relationship with other countries plays an important role in developing a sense of identity for our pupils. Skills and knowledge gained and developed through Geography, assist pupils to make sense of their surroundings and the wider world. 
We do our best to ensure that our Geography lessons provide an interesting and exciting way for pupils to engage with the variety of topics and geographical facts we study (such as different places with their diverse human and physical features; the variety of physical and human processes which shape them, and the people who live in them). 
We believe it is important to provide our children with the opportunities to use a range of investigative and problem-solving skills both in and outside the classroom, to develop an understanding of geographical processes and patterns. 
Involving pupils in the process of enquiry helps them to ask relevant geographical questions and help them to develop geographical skills, particularly in map work and fieldwork. 
We take pride in our pupils showing that they can use effectively key tools such as compasses and atlases for a variety of tasks. We would like to continue encouraging the children to grow their knowledge about the physical and human aspects of the U.K.  and our beautiful world.
Last but not least, we believe that not only awareness and knowledge but first of all, empathy about environmental problems in local and global areas that we face nowadays, can help make our pupils choose the right decision for looking after their world. 
We encourage every single child to build this environmental awareness and sensitiveness: by looking after our local environment we contribute to the whole world. Let`s keep the world beautiful!
