PMG School Wear - Update for Uniform Order for September 2021
I hope everyone is keeping well and looking forward to the Summer Holidays and a break of sorts. Freedom day is upon us but I’m not sure just how Free we will all be!
I thought I ought to give you all an update on PMG’s plans for selling your school’s uniform over the coming Summer. There is some important information here so please read carefully and disseminate to your parents.
As we are predominantly dealing with young people and children we have decided to continue with some of the measures we have had in place over the last 18 months. This is to continue to protect our staff and our customers which is our number one priority.
As a result we are continuing to limit the number of people in the stores at any one time and asking customers to make appointments to visit the store whether it be to try on and purchase uniform, to make returns or exchanges and most importantly to collect orders placed online using our hugely popular Free Click and Collect system. We ran this system last year and it was so successful and met with such amazing feedback from parents that we have decided to run the stores the same way this year.
Appointments are available to book on our website now and we highly recommend that new starters book appointments as soon as they can. However we found that the appointment system came as a surprise to those further up the schools and so we would implore you to let them all know that they need to book appointments or they may well find themselves queueing outside the store as we continue to operate a social distanced environment with a limited number of people in the shop at any one time. Please also be aware that appointments are booking up very quickly indeed and I would hate for customers to leave it until the last few weeks of the holiday and find they cannot get into the store to purchase uniform.
At this point I would also ask you to mention in any communications that we will continue to ask customers to wear masks. This is inline with many other retailers and whilst the laws may be relaxed from 19th July we felt it is too soon to stop wearing masks in enclosed spaces amongst people who are unknown to each other. Whilst we obviously will not prevent anyone from coming into the store who genuinely CANNOT wear a mask we do not think this request is unreasonable and is focused once again on protecting our staff and customers. Please support us should there be any negative feedback regarding this policy.
Of course online continues to offer its great service as normal and is available 24 hours a day. Our average delivery time over the back to school period is 2.5 days and we intend to beat that if we can this year. We will be offering our free click and collect from the stores offer. However parents MUST make an appointment to make the collection this year in order to keep control of numbers in the store and avoid large queues outside.
The most important message to get across TO ALL parents is the cut off date of 12th August. Whilst we invest almost £2m in stock for back to school, we do not have a crystal ball and sometimes we run out of sizes. After this date we cannot guarantee to be able to provide uniform in time for children going back to school. We are urging parents not to leave buying school uniform until the last minute especially the older children. Children do not grow that fast over 6 weeks of Summer and we operate a 120 days return policy. Therefore as long as parents keep labels on uniform and try it on a couple of weeks before the new term then they can always change items if by any chance a child has grown out of it. I will continue to send you reminders to send out to all parents of this date in the hope we can avoid any last minute rush!
