Phonics

Read Write Inc. (RWI) Phonics is a structured and systematic approach to teaching early reading and writing. At Wood End Park Academy, children learn sounds and letters in a fun, engaging way, helping them to develop the skills needed to read with confidence and fluency. Through daily phonics lessons, pupils practise blending sounds to read words and segmenting words to support spelling. Children read carefully matched books that reinforce the sounds they have learnt, enabling them to experience success and build confidence. Our aim is for every child to become an enthusiastic, independent reader with a lifelong love of learning.
